HERBST Tree Symposium in Baden near Vienna: A review

On the 20. September 2024, we had the special opportunity to participate in the Baumsymposium in Baden bei Wien. This significant event, which is dedicated to the protection, care and promotion of trees, was organized by the Arbor Technical Institute. The symposium attracted experts and nature enthusiasts from all over Austria and the surrounding area, offering a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and ideas around the topic of trees and urban greening.

Lectures and expert exchange

The Tree Symposium featured a series of informative lectures that highlighted different aspects of arborology. Experts from the industry presented current research findings and innovative approaches to tree health, modern care methods and sustainable urban greening. Particularly impressive was the focus on the impact of climate change on trees and the development of solutions to increase the resilience of urban green spaces. The lectures not only provided an in-depth insight into new scientific findings, but also into practice-oriented approaches to tree care in urban areas.

Our booth: Exchange and networking

In addition to the exciting lectures, we also had the opportunity to actively contribute to the symposium – with our own booth. Here we presented our tree and green cadastre, a tool that enables precise documentation and maintenance of trees in urban spaces. The booth attracted numerous visitors who informed themselves about new technologies and procedures in tree care. Many used the opportunity to ask specific questions arising from the lectures and to share experiences with other professionals.

Conclusion

The Tree Symposium was a valuable experience for all participants, offering not only a deeper insight into the science of tree care, but also numerous networking opportunities. We look forward to future events where we can continue to contribute to the topic of urban greening and sustainable tree care.
