PBSGEO’s participation in the FIAT IFTA Congress in Krakow

The FIAT IFTA Congress took place in Krakow from September 18 to 20, 2024. The FIAT-IFTA (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Thanatologues) or in English, The World Organization of Funeral Operatives, is a globally significant organization dedicated to the promotion of funeral and burial practices and the advancement of the funeral industry.

The event brought together funeral industry professionals from around the world to discuss new developments and innovations. PBSGEO GmbH took part in the congress for the first time this year. Managing Director Stefan Schumacher was on site as a speaker.

The congress offered a special opportunity to get to know the latest trends and approaches in the industry. PBSGEO used the time to present its applications and make new contacts. Mr. Stefan Schumacher was also there as a speaker and gave a presentation on “Cemeteries with AI – how cultural heritage and collective memory is preserved through digital innovation”. Stefan Schumacher showed how artificial intelligence can help not only to document cemeteries, but also to preserve them as places of collective memory in the long term. Innovative digital solutions can be used to secure graves and monuments and place them in a global context, making it possible to preserve cultural heritage for future generations.

In addition to the presentation, the PBSGEO networked in many discussions with experts from all over the world. The congress was able to highlight new perspectives and provide valuable suggestions for future projects.

PBSGEO is a spin-off of Planungsbüro Schumacher. This connection can still be recognized today by the first three letters of our company name.

We started in 2011 as an engineering office for geoinformatics and initially worked on a large number of projects relating to the processing of geodata for public administrations.
